Allaire School
50 El Camino Dr
(415) 927-2640
http://www.allaire-school.org/index.htm

Grades:1st- 8th
Enrollment: 20
Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Organizational Skills

The goal of Allaire School is to teach children to compensate for their learning disabilities, to become independent learners, to be good citizens and to become productive, creative members of our society. Students must have average to above or gifted intelligence.

The Allaire School provides a calm, caring, yet structured atmosphere which contributes to the students' ability to focus on tasks and to build independent learning skills. Students are taught "tricks" which help them compensate for their learning discrepancies. These techniques are based upon a psycho neurologic approach. Organizational and time management skills are learned, and computers are used to teach word processing and some math skills. The first change we observe is the child's sense of relief, that finally, teachers understand how they learn. As skill levels are mastered and independently used, their self esteem rises. Our students form a close knit group, supporting and encouraging each other with comradery and good sportsmanship.

The Allaire school has an enriched content subject program that includes: Public Speaking, Play Writing, Performing Talents, "Marin Youth In Arts", Tennis, Triathlon training and race, Basketball, and Volleyball, Science Fair, Headlands Institute Field Research, Computer: Word Processing and Math Facts Games, Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Photography, Museum Visits, Field Trips, and Community Service.

Pedagogical direction, however, is provided by the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (Agency for International French Education) under the guidance of the French Ministry of Education.

From their days as a spunky start-up they have learned to dream big and to work hard.

Marin Montessori School
5200 Paradise Drive
(415) 924-5388

Toddler: 18 Months – 2yrs old
Primary: 2 yrs old- 6 yrs old
Elementary: 6 yrs old – 12 yrs old
Junior High: 12 yrs old -15 yrs old

Enrollment: 196

MMS was the brainchild of eleven families who wanted the finest quality Montessori education
for their children. Our first accommodation was literally a school “house” with 18 children in a
converted San Rafael home. As the student body grew, MMS moved to larger sites throughout
the ‘60s. It finally found its current home on Paradise Drive in 1970, thanks to the generosity of MMS parents Jim and Nancy Kelso.

Situated next to the bay with a living marsh, a large field, and learning gardens, MMS’s
Paradise Drive site offers an exceptional environment for indoor-outdoor education.
Three primary classrooms were built throughout the 1970s with a fourth classroom added
in 1984. MMS accommodated the burgeoning elementary program by purchasing the
Domes on the far east end of the grassy field in 1984. A few years later an after-school
program was added.

By 1991, MMS was ready to enroll toddlers in the new Sandpiper classrooms. MMS
completed its vision for elementary education by completing the upper elementary building
in 1995.

Two decades after moving onto the Paradise Drive location, MMS went from a preschool for 3-to 6-year-olds to a school that educated children from 18 months to 12 years of age.
This thoughtful and progressive evolution inspired an ambitious building project in 2003 that created updated classrooms and administrative offices, a parent resource center,
and conference facilities that will serve the MMS community well into the future.

Today, MMS is a school with a modern face that not only physically complements
the beauty of the land, but also complements the ideals of Montessori education.

A sense of student responsibility and ability to affect positive change in the world. Real Estate Tips
Insurance >Do You Need Mortgage Protection

If you have a mortgage on your home, you may have received several offers from insurance companies that sell coverage to pay off your mortgage in the event you die unexpectedly. Although insurance in general is a good idea, mortgage insurance is usually a poor value in most cases.

If you read the large print, it appears that the policy will protect your family if you die before your mortgage is paid off. All you have to do is fill out the paperwork, have a physical exam, and pay a little more each month. The fine print, however, may limit the coverage relating to accidental death. If there are two people on the deed of trust, the policy may pay only half if one of them dies.

When considering mortgage insurance, call a good insurance agent before you send in your forms. Insurance experts usually advise against separate policies to cover various contingencies. A regular term life insurance policy equal to the amount of your mortgage will probably offer you a lot more coverage for your money.
